Based in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, this journey immerses students in conservation work, cultural exchange and environmental learning. Through hands-on projects, guided exploration and shared challenge, students gain a deeper understanding of sustainability, leadership and their role in an interconnected world. This expedition is designed to move beyond observation, encouraging students to engage directly with real-world issues while developing confidence, resilience and global awareness.

All Birdiya expeditions are carefully planned and delivered in partnership with experienced local operators and conservation organisations.

The Borneo expedition is structured around key phases rather than a fixed day-by-day schedule, allowing flexibility while maintaining clear learning outcomes.

Arrival & Orientation
Students arrive in Kota Kinabalu and take part in cultural orientation, safety briefings and expedition preparation.

Conservation & Community Engagement
Working alongside local conservation partners, students contribute to rainforest restoration, river clean-up projects and biodiversity initiatives in rural communities.

Rainforest Trek & Challenge
Students explore remote jungle environments, learning navigation, teamwork and survival skills while experiencing the challenges of tropical terrain.

Wildlife & Environmental Learning
Visits to conservation centres provide insight into wildlife protection, habitat restoration and the impact of human activity on fragile ecosystems.

Marine Conservation & Reflection
Time spent in marine environments introduces students to coral reef ecosystems and conservation challenges, supported by guided reflection and journaling.
